Naming Day

A few days ago we celebrated Grace’s Naming Day. We welcomed her to the world with a very small and intimate ceremony. Her two big brothers opened the ceremony with a short piece on the violin.
David and I have chosen not to have god parents for Grace. We have chosen a very small circle of women as guardians – women in our lives who we love, each with their own special and unique qualities. They have not been chosen to watch over her but to know that their energies are like precious threads that will be woven into the beautiful tapestry of Grace’s life.

Each person present offered a blessing and a crystal. We were blessed to have my Mum, Grace's Nan to perform the ceremony. It was very moving....

As we stood on the back veranda and were part of the ceremony I reflected upon how important ritual is in our lives. How special it is for love ones to unite and to celebrate. Today we welcomed Grace into our lives, acknowledging what a blessing it is having her join our family.

"Grace, may the blessings you received resonate deep within you and may you always follow your truth".

I will leave you with some of my favourite images of the day .....
