a surprise homebirth

I am due to visit my lovely sister in north queensland in two weeks. The reason for the trip was to be there for the birth of her second child. But it seems that her little baby had other ideas. A wee little baby girl was born a few nights ago. My strong and beautiful sister gave birth to her daughter in the bathroom of her loving home. It is made even more special because nearly two years ago I gave birth to my daughter in the bathroom of my home.

Welcome to the world Lila Jade, you are loved beyond words. Congratulations Kitty, Greg and big sister Deja Rose.

Thank you B, Lila's birth was both healing and empowering for me. I now know the magical impact you experienced yourself birthing at home and I feel that this has changed my life for ever. I would do it all again. Thank you for all your love, support and wisdom. I feel blessed to have you as my sister. Love Kit xxx

Such a beautiful way to enter the world...this is something that Kitty will remember forever and also something Lila will be telling her grandchildren in years to come...she was born in her home with both her grandmothers and her sister, there's nothing more special than that. Women supporting women! That's the way childbirth was meant to be.
