living simply for 365 days

i am excited. i am about to take a challenge. the dottie angel challenge. for 365 days, i will commit myself to only buy handmade or second hand items for my home and closet. of course there will be a few clauses. i plan to start on the day of my little ones second birthday (8th october), she too will be included in the challege. my 2 teenage boys.... i will be leaving that up to them. perhaps they will particapte in some form of their choice. my hubby... well we will see.

this decision for me is also another step towards a simpler life. to tread a little lighter on the earth. to use my creativity on a whole new level. to be mindful about each item that passes through my hands.

anyone else up for the challenge?

Hi B, will be joining the challenge also, starting 13th October. I am really excited about it. It will be wonderful to share ideas and experiences along the way.I am also challenging myself to reduce my fortnightly grocery bill by a third and become more consumer friendly when shopping xxx.

Living simply does tend to lend itself to creativity. You are strong Donna, and this challenge will strengthen you further I'm sure. Love you, friend.

What a challenge. Living in Athens, Greece where nearly everyone is addicted to buying, this seems like a fairy-tale to me. Am really impressed of the idea itself, as well of those participating.
With regard to me, well, to be honest, don't know how I could manage the arguments hearing upon this from my wife, 'in-law's' etc.
Sorry, for me being such a coward.
A nice new week for you all.

Thanks everyone for your uplifting and encouraging comments, and welcome to my new followers! Remember, if you interested in doing the challenge - you can put in your own clauses. Bee x

Wow, this is fantastic, reminds me of when you were all children and this was more a necessity and in your Nanna's time it was the only way. In living simply we find ourselves and give the greatest gift to our children. So proud to see what you and your beautiful friends are committing to. Love Mum xxxxxx

Dear B,
I love to follow your blog and although I don't always comment, your posts fill me with a sense of love, family, beauty and simplicity. I admire the fact that you live your truth and stay steadfast to your beliefs. This post caught me particularly by the first words..."I am excited"! To exude that energy and inspire others leading by example is a wonderful gift and reminds me of my favourite quote "Be the change you want to see in the world" Ghandi. Keep on shining, Luv Em

That's wonderful, A challenge indeed, so worth it, I try my best in all areas to follow the path of recycle, re-use and restraint and teach my kids the same. You are a wonderful example, I look forward to reading your blog and hearing how you go, I wish you well.
